Format for play off games in the knockout competition.

The Southland Junior Football committee wish to advise clubs of the following format for play off games in the knockout competition.

7th - 12th grade        Extra time 5 minutes each way.
13th - 16th grade      Extra time 5 minutes each way.

A 5 minute break after full time is to be taken but between the extra time halves teams just change ends with no set break.
If the scores are still level a penalty shoot out is to take place.
Only players on the field at the end of the extra time are to participate and the goal-keeper is not to be changed once the extra time is finished.
5 players from each team will be listed to alternately take the penalty shots with a toss between teams to have the winner decide if they wish to kick first or second.
A list of the remaining players is to be on hand if needed.
The two teams group at the half way line.
The result at the end of the 5 penalty shots from both teams, if uneven, decides the game.
If the penalty shootout result is still tied, it becomes sudden death, one on one, with the remainder of the team and goes back to the start of the original five kickers until there is a result.
The referee needs to make a decision on where the penalty spot is for that particular game.
The goal-keeper cannot move their heels forward off their line but can move along the goal line before the goal is kicked.

Please pass to all your coaches involved in playoffs.

Southland teams play in different age groups than their Dunedin counterparts so I formulated the above to fit easier with our playing age group set up.
It was okayed by Ken in 2009 and is what Winton based their payment on for 2009.
As fees have not changed these should stand for this year also.

NOTES
1.   The aim of this format is to have more teams competing in each level of competition.
2.  If there are enough teams in each age group then that competition may be divided into 2 levels, ie: 10th Grade would become 9th Grade & 10th Grade
2.  The target for each age group is a minimum of 8 teams
