The Legendary "Larry O'Rorke" who earned  the tag Southland's Mr Soccer throughout the 1930's, 40's, 50's & 60's, until his untimeley death in 1971.

Background Pic: "Pioneer" 1895 was the first ever Invercargill team.
They played and lost 5-1 to Hokonui on Aug 7th that year at Hokonui in Southland's first recorded "serious game".

Right: Waihopai club icon Quinton Phair (right) gets a hug from the legend, Quinny who had a lung transplant earlier in the year, saw out this game and in fact scored a ripper of a goal.

The two mens teams get together. Wynton played the first half in red but was more impressed by the other team so subbed himself on for the whites at half time (I notice the refs at the white end too and they won the game 2-1.)
